Only member of GS1 Hong Kong before you gain the qualification for applying barcode (useable in Hong Kong, China and oversea). GS1 Hong Kong as a member of GS1 International is the only authority to issue EAN/UCC coding, barcode helps to identify product, transport and its location.

This service includes online products and company database, e-communication and promotion website, this helps companies to reduce economy and time cost. Joining the GS1 Hong Kong membership, companies can get their barcode and its system (including software, computing system, product code, location code, etc.)
The barcode and e-ID database is setup by GS1 Hong Kong. This is an internet database allowing supplier, producer and retailer uploading their information following the global standard, this help to improve the communication and promotion.

Global Trade Item Number (GTIN): unique way to identify products/services/locations in the trading cycle to facilitate business efficiency.

Global Location Number (GLN) - unique identification for any legal, functional or physical location within an organization. It can be used throughout the supply chain to track and trace the location of goods.

Product description - brand name, long and short product description available for different application use - detailing color, size, etc

Logistics information - dimensions of the shipment/carton, weight, packaging type, packing format, handling instruction, etc

The HK e-ID Registry is an e-commerce infrastructure that facilitates SCM application development. It uses global and open standards which can be connected to other supply chain management applications such as Point-of-Sale, category management, warehouse management, e-procurement, enterprise resources planning (ERP) etc.

It provides a means for suppliers or distributors to register their products online with automatic assignment of GTIN and reduces the risk of duplicating the same GTIN.

It provides a single point of entry for GTIN and its associated information, which serves as a gateway linking up local and international industry-specific Electronic Product Catalogues and their associated business applications.

It facilitates product and company searching and retrieval and alignment of product information.

| Barcode registration process: |
1. Register a Limited Company in Hong Kong (around 15 working days)
2. Join the GS1 Hong Kong membership once the company is formed.

3. Only GS1 member is qualified to apply barcode
4. There will be 10,000 codes issued per application, and the fee is HK$4,000.
5. Application time: it takes 7-8 working days for the application and barcode can be print.
Clients need to provide their Certificate of Incorporation and Business Registry together with products name and detail to us for application.
Usage and Printing:
Once the application accepted, it can be printed on the product or its packing.
